RXL
Based on the standings after Event 1, it seems like the
talent in this year’s RXL division is much more even than in years past. Not a
single team won all of their matches at Central Event 1 and the only team to
lose all of their matches –Guelph Silence - did so fighting! It should be an
exciting RXL season!
Most Exciting Match – Essex Distortion VS. Joyceville

Joyceville had a significant win over the King City Royals
and a comfortable win over Niagara Rampage before facing off against Essex and
Distortion had 3 wins under their belts before heading into this match. There
is no doubt in my mind that both teams came into this match ready and
confident. It’s always exciting when the top two teams in a division face off
and this Distortion-Hustlers power struggle was no exception to the rule with a
6-6 finish.
Strongest Team Thus Far- TIE Joyceville Hustlers and Essex

In the 2012 season, Essex came out with a hunger and drive
that surprised many – especially considering that it was their first season
playing RXL. They fought tooth and nail all season and won the coveted third
NAX spot. With both Hate and the old Aces line up playing MXL this year, the
path has been cleared for Essex to be a true competitor for this year’s RXL
title.

The word on the street is that the Joyceville line-up has
been playing some PSP and NPPL events this year and that additional experience
has certainly benefited them back on Canadian soil. They managed a few strong
wins this event with a 10 point win over the Royals and a 7 point win over
Guelph Silence and I fully expect to see a few more matches like those at the
coming events.
Weakest Team Thus Far-
Guelph Silence
Guelph is sitting at the
bottom of the RXL heap after event 1 but to their credit, with the exception of
their match against Hustlers, they put up a good fight. They only lost by two
points to Vaughn Vipers and Beast Mode and four points to Dundas Demolition.
Considering that no team likes to lose, I’m sure that Guelph will be practicing
hard in the next few weeks in preparation for Border Battle. If they are
looking for a win, their best chance at the next event will be their match
against the King City Royals and I wouldn’t be surprised to see that happen.
Team to Watch out for at Event 2- Niagara Rampage
The teams in those 3rd -5th place
spots often go unnoticed but it would be hard not to notice the Niagara Rampage
group with their big wins over 420 Army, Demolition, and the Royals. The only
loss they have suffered so far was against Hustlers. They face Vipers and
Distortion next event and while I suspect they will have another solid win over
Vipers, that Distortion match up will probably be the match to see at Border
Battle.
Practice hard and we will see you all at Border Battle!
Signing off,
The Paintball Wife
