What to Expect at Event 1

With just days to go until the sun rises over Flag Raiders Paintball for Event 1 of the 2012 CXBL Elite and Central CXBL season, you may be wondering what to expect. What glorious treasures await you at this illustrious event? Can you expect any league changes for the season ahead? How has Flag Raiders adapted to make this season even hotter than the last? I’ve asked the questions and I have the details!
For starters, Joey DeCaire, the new CXBL Spokesperson, has assured me that there will be no “major life-altering rule changes.” Which I am certain will come as a relief to all players. DeCaire went on to say, “The biggest change is that MXL, RXL, and CX4 have NAX finals this year.” Joey explained that the league can have NAX finals for all levels since they are hosting them in Canada once again. I have heard mixed reviews on the concept of having NAX finals for all divisions but this change will without a doubt step up the competition amongst the lower level teams and I look forward to seeing how this plays out in the season ahead.
We can also expect to see significant changes in regard to the film coverage of the events thanks to the new GoPro sponsorship. If you had the chance to read my interview with Jim Baker from Backline Media you will know that the GoPro sponsorship will allow for full match coverage of ALL CXBL Elite matches! Also, for the first time ever, players will be entitled to use their own GoPro cameras to collect footage while playing! GoPro will even have a display at all of the events this year for players and fans to get more information about their exciting products!
Flag Raiders too has made some pretty spectacular changes that will make both players and fans more at home at the field. Todd Ancich from Flag Raiders Paintball explained that the Flag Raiders crew have been hard at work and have built some pretty solid permanent pits for use during the season. They have also raised the score clocks so that they are now visible to players and fans alike! To accommodate the increase in teams, Flag Raiders has also increased parking for the season ahead. Ancich added that the four fields have been set up in a way that will allow for ease of travel between fields making the event more accessible for fans. With two fields located closer to the road, there is now space for a vendor concession between the different fields and of course, for those of you who like to celebrate your wins with a cold beverage the licensed patio will be open for business again this year! If you enjoy the changes, be sure to thank the Flag Raiders staff for their hard work!
We can expect to find the PBL store trailer in the vendor concession loaded with all sorts of new and exciting items from both the league and its many sponsors. This means that the retail presence will be greater this season than it was in seasons past. Joey DeCaire also mentioned that the CXBL clothing line is even nicer this year and they now have “something for everyone in the family!” I’ve even heard that there are four different female clothing options this year! This of course means that I will be decked out in CXBL garb and all of you piantballers can pick up some fancy new digs for yourselves AND for your female fans!
With all of these exciting things to look forward to, CXBL Event 1 is sure to be a hit with both the players and their fans. I know that BuyPBL, the CXBL staff, Backline Media, and Flag Raiders have done everything they can to ensure that this season will be a huge success. Please don’t forget to show your support for all of these amazing people who work so hard behind the scenes to make each event such a delight. You all have my genuine respect and appreciation. Thanks for working so hard to make Canadian paintball everything that it is!

What are you most excited about?

**On a side note, alongside their preparations for CXBL Event 1, the Flag Raiders crew has been exceptionally busy preparing for and hosting their 26th scenario big game! On Sunday June 3rd, they hosted D-Day “Viva La Resistance” where they welcomed between 800 and 1000 people from all over Canada and the U.S. Players and organizers alike said that the D-Day event was a massive success. On top of hosting 2 major scenario events a year, and hosting two CXBL events, Flag Raiders plans and operates several other exciting events throughout the year. Check out some of the amazing plans they have in place for this paintball season! **
